On the football field why is the home side away from the press box?
Legend has it that the west side of the Lockhart Field was chosen by the fans as the home side so they never have to look into the fall sun and can have the weather at their backs when there was a strong westerly gale. While these are great reasons for the home stand location, this is just a tall tale. The west side is the home side for the panthers because for many years the press box was actually mounted on top of the stands. In the 1970’s a new concession stand and press box was built on the east side of the football field and the old press box was removed from its perch atop the west stands. And now you know the rest of the story!
How much of my donation will actually go towards the project?
We pay a nominal fee of 2.9% + $0.30 to our payment processor on each donation. Other than that everything else goes towards the project.
